In 1815, A.-L. Breguet became watchmaker to the French Royal Navy. This was the most prestigious title a watchmaker could hope for, given the extent to which marine watchmaking involved scientific competencies. This invaluable heritage is at the origin of the Marine collection, which features sturdily designed watches. They feature central lugs and integrated straps. In order to ensure greater legibility, during the day and at night, the hands and various indications are luminescent. Gold was chosen for the design of the dials, hands and hour markers, and some models feature hand-engraving on a rose engine that recalls waves. Seen from the back through their sapphire case backs, the Marine watches provide a glimpse of their hand-decorated movements, and in particular the unique decoration inspired by the spirit of the collection.
