"A dandy on the boulevards (...), strolling at leisure until his Breguet, ever vigilant, reminds him it is midday."
Alexander Pushkin
Eugen Onegin, 1825-1833
One of Russia’s most celebrated authors, Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837) came from an established noble family, one that had patronized Breguet since the early years of the 19th century. He shared Russian high society’s fascination with luxury watchmaking. His masterpiece Eugen Onegin features a Breguet timepiece : “A dandy on the boulevards (...) strolling at leisure until his Breguet, ever vigilant, reminds him it is midday.”
